Idea: take one part American iron from the 50s, one part European capitals as they existed in the era, and mix thoroughly with long stretches of asphalt. Starting in Lisbon, passing through Madrid, on to Paris, Brussels (revisiting the ‘58 Brussels Expo), then on to Bonn, Berlin, Warsaw, Minsk, and finally Moscow... 4600km or so of open roads.
How Hard Could It Be?

Question? Will in cab heat be provided on your Cold War tour?

Ummmmm, YES!
If you need an official photographer/extra body to eat in the likely event of it all going wrong then I would like to put my hat in that ring please.

One would think in Detroit’s best, it would be a
warm
Cold War tour.

I’m not actually sure which is most bankrupty - shipping the cars or keeping them filled up across Europe.

This is not something that I could really arrange/afford in the near term future, but maybe in about a decade or so... For one, it’d be a really good way to test the “Continental Europe is just crazy about old American steel” thesis.

Okay completely unrelated... But why are the front of those cars completely slammed to the ground?

Because they’re going “BONK BONK” over a railroad trestle. While braking. Apparently Motor Trend was *not* fucking around with its comparative tests.

Should I put you down for the Imperial or the Cad? There’s a rusty ‘58 Imperial with no engine here the next town over for $1300, I bet you could match that in Cali without too much trouble. The Cad would be more of a low five-figures car.

Imperial, if you please. A college buddy had a great ‘61 in black over blue on Torq-Thrusts, it was a wonderful car.

Alrighty, done. You can arrange that, and then we’ll just need to find somebody with a Cadillac to con into doing this, and we’re golden.

V8-6-4/HT4100 Diesel swaps? All about them MPGs.

Hey, according to the Motor Trend tests, all three megabarges could beat 10MPG highway. It’s only partly the catastrophic fuel consumption horror you’d think.

I like the 47 hour route because it goes through the south of France, Italy, and more German autobahns than the 44 hour route.

sounds like a great plan!
